Bursaries

We support a number of children from low income families enabling them to fulfil their musical potential for the benefits this brings in itself and also to their personal and wider educational development.  There are a range of bursaries (with mentoring support) available to support children within Camden.

Music making groups

Our extensive range of instrumental and choral groups offers something for everyone from specialist music ensembles, Saturday centres, holidays courses, SEND groups and in-school learning, to name a few.

Having instruments available to lend means that no child needs to miss the opportunity to develop musical skills for lack of financial resources.

Events

The myriad events we support include the biennial Royal Albert Hall festival, concerts at major London venues including LSO St Lukes and the Shaw Theatre. Numerous performances take place throughout the year in inspirational locations such as The British Library, Coal Drops Yard and Camden Market to name a few. These events provide a platform to showcase the talents of Camden’s young people to the wider community.

Projects we have supported in the past include:

Performance of professional musicians and students

Somers Town Sinfonia

Funded by a large grant, this project involved children and parents from local primary schools, in one of Camden’s most deprived wards.

Professional musicians conducting a large group of students

A New Created World

A collaborative programme that enabled Camden’s young people to work with students from the Royal Academy of Music and players from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

100 Hours of Music

A campaign to kickstart music lessons for those most affected by the pandemic. Young people were provided online taster music lessons (100 hours) and encouraged and supported to continue their musical journey afterwards.
